Tanis Simpson, a native of Sachs Harbour, Northwest Territories, is the sole owner of Qiviut Inc., a small business in Nisku, Alberta, Canada. Qiviut fiber was a commonplace item in Tanis’s and Bradley Carpenter’s childhood upbringing; their parents and grandparents would stuff it into the kids’ boots and mitts to keep them warm. In addition to producing fine qiviut yarns, knitwear, and hand warmers, Qiviut Inc.’s tiny but mighty crew also manages Arctic Indulgence, a store showcasing jewelry and other artwork crafted by Indigenous people. We are located at our mill/storefront in Nisku, Alberta.
