Located in Burnaby, British Columbia, Jennie Johnston works in textile-based mixed media, using repurposed cloth and contemporary fabrics to create quilts that are layered with hand stitching and paint. Her quilts feature personal imagery, from birds to labyrinths, and diverse colour palettes, maintaining their status as craft objects despite losing functionality. In addition to offering unique art pieces for homes, businesses, or gifts, Jennie hosts workshops where participants can explore textile techniques such as embroidery, quilting, and sewing. Originally from rural Quebec, she holds a Fine Arts Degree from Mount Allison University and now lives near Vancouver with her family.
