On their computer, a hazy image of a cute little farmhouse appeared. They grinned. Only a few short weeks later, Melanie and Jeremy White were standing at the bottom of a winding drive, somewhat in awe at the beautiful Cape Breton farmland they had recently acquired. A hopyard was established on organically-certified soil, perched on a southern hill with the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Bras D’Or Lake in the background. Water that was naturally mineral-rich was ideal for brewing. Construction got going.
