Doug and Carolyn Lilleyman, originally from Scarborough and now in Markdale, Ontario, unexpectedly became alpaca farmers. What began with two alpacas for their resort guests evolved into Laslyn Alpaca, a business featuring unique fibre products. They offer handmade items using their alpacas’ fibre, alongside Canadian-made and Peruvian fair-trade treasures. Each piece, especially their alpaca felted shawls, scarves, and rugs, tells a story and is distinctly crafted. They plan to expand their line to include hats, mitts, and ponchos, and explore up-cycling fabric with alpaca felt. Their commitment to elegance, comfort, and sustainability brings nature’s luxury to their customers.
